A dramatic site with an existing house situated close to the water. Fantastic views across a near island and out to sea. After determining that the existing house would not be suitable for restoration, a new home was designed to nestle into the limits of shoreland setbacks and to maximize the fantastic views. Provisions were incorporated into the design to accommodate an active family of boaters, their children and grandchildren, and the family dogs. The exterior was designed to reduce maintenance to a minimum while maintaining a traditional appearance. Interior spaces were utilized to their fullest by the use of a steel roof frame that allowed all second floor spaces to flow freely.
